Why do age seem to be a big deal in the average 5+ year age difference relationships? When does younger than you become too young for you? How do you determine when someones too old for you. Do you base your standards on what society feels is too young or too old? Okay let me take a step back! Ummm I'm not talking about a 27 year old and a 16 year old. I'm talking about two adults both over the age of 18 (that is legal isn't it?). Society has built this acceptance with older men and younger women but on the flip side they've frowned upon older women with younger men. Why?
I'm 26 and currently my boyfriend is 30. I feel that's a good gap. (Men are much younger than their actual birth age so they say) so we're kinda on the same level. Hence the word kinda because 30's the new 20... Go figure! Anyway personally I wouldn't date anyone 24 or younger and that's pushing it. My reason is I have a 22 year old brother. Kinda weird dating someone who could possible related to the little knuckle head I picked on for years. Gives me the creeps but whatever floats your boat hey. As far as older... Yea umm I'm not too sure how old I would go. I could give a number but it really depends on your appearance. Granted I will not be with someone older than my dad that's just gross but same age LOL it depends.
I have a friend who shall remain nameless who's a bonifide cougar (Older woman who dates younger men). She's in her 40's and she will date a 25 year old in a heartbeat. I just can't see that in my future! I don't knock her at all, in fact I applaud her efforts but can you honestly get serious with someone 10+ years older or younger than you? Or is that fling territory? I also have a friend my age who is married to a man 15 years her senior. & I must say from the outside looking in that relationship has aged her. She acts older than she is, she dress like a grandma, and she's rid herself of a social life because he doesn't fit in. So my question is: Does age matter? Can it create a problem or is it okay to go above & below the 5 year mark?

i have to agree that age does matter, but mostly when the difference is 8+ yrs. A 35yrs ago dating a 25yr might face the most problems because @ 35 MOST people tend to be mature and to some extent established and is thinking family vs. MOST 25yr olds are still trying to find themselves and for the most part holding on to their teen years.

This is a touchy subject shay. Comin up for some reason I never really dated girls my exact age. Like I don't know if it was bcuz I had a flock of younger girl (at that time no younger than 2yrs could get my attn) chasin after me or if it was bcus the girls my age had a thing for the older guys, but I never really dated girls my age. It was the h.s. years that really put an age limit on my suitors and the the ones I was suiting (I guess that's the word) I told myself if she wasn't in h.s. while I was in h.s. I couldn't do it. So as a sr. I had a fling or 2 wit a freshmn but thas where it stopped. Now out of h.s. the limitations have been changed. I work wit the public so I see women wit amazing shapes as well as intelligence beyond they're years but if she says she's 18/19 I tell her get home safe. If she says she 20 or better I'll give her good convo till I get what I need from her whether that be contact info or boost of confidence (I don't love them hoes lol nah) but that age difference now has gone from 2 yrs difference to as long as she's 20 she can get it. So long loonng loooooonnnnnnnngggggg story short, my point is age does matter at a certain time in ones life but like u said that's usually when ur younger bcus at 18 I wasn't dating a 10 yrs old but at 28 I probly wouldn't think twice about knocking down (thas sex) a 20 yr old but in this world that's acceptable hahaha. Let a 30 yr old woman date a 20yr old man, she got issues wit herself, she needs to get a life lol just sayin but that 20yr old man is seen as the man smh its a mans world...I didn't say it, James Brown did.

I don't think I answered the question Lol so to answer ya question it can be a problem to an older woman in our society.
I think it can matter, but it depends on the individuals. My mother married a man 5 yrs younger than her and they been married for 33 yrs. Most of my notables have been the same age as me or within 5 yrs. Anything younger has been my 'boytoys'...
